MATH 1040 Introduction to Statistics
Reflection:
This course and project required me to develop many problem-solving skills. We organized and analyzed data, and then we had to interpret it mathematically to make statistical predictions about its meaning. For our team project, we analyzed the frequencies of candies and their colors in bags. We had to work with, organize, and display both Categorical Data and Quantitative Data. From a limited amount of sample data of candies, we had to construct multiple confidence intervals to make estimates about the actual frequencies of all candies in the population. We conducted Statistical hypothesis testing with various significance levels to test hypothetical claims about the candies and their mean/average quantities per bag. Finally, we had to examine our data and our data collection strategies to locate and hopefully eliminate any effects of bias in our sampling techniques.
